Cross Listing Today: eBay and Your Own Website

How to list one resale item on eBay and your own website without typing it twice, and what to prepare before more channels turn on.

TLDR: Cross listing means one item record published to every channel you can fulfill today. Today those live channels are eBay and your own website. Poshmark and Mercari are next, and they are not live yet.

What has to be true before you list twice

Two listings of one physical item will oversell the moment both sell. The guard is a single quantity. When the item sells in either place, the other listing ends the same day. If you cannot do that by hand, do not cross list by hand. One channel, done carefully, beats two channels that can both take the order.

Build the record before you open a listing form. You need the photos, a title under 80 characters, the item specifics, a condition sentence, a price, and the quantity set to one. That record is the source. eBay and your website are copies of it.

Do it yourself on the two live channels

  1. Photograph the item once. Front, back or other side, brand and size tag, and one flaw. Use those files in both places. Do not reshoot for the second channel.
  2. Write the title in search order: brand, item, who it is for, size, color, and one material or model. Stay under 80 characters. Paste that same title on your website and on eBay.
  3. Fill the same specifics in both places. Brand, size, color, condition, and measurements where they matter. An empty filter field is how a buyer never sees the item.
  4. Price from sold comps. The website and eBay can differ by a little when the fees differ. They should not differ because someone retyped the price from memory.
  5. Set quantity to one. When it sells, end or hide the other listing before you pack the order. Then mark it shipped, with tracking, on the record.

Your website is the channel you control: your policies, your shipping, your brand. eBay is where shoppers already search. Both deserve the same facts. A shorter, vaguer title on one of them is how the wrong buyer finds it.

What not to copy

Do not copy a sold title that describes a different size, a different color, or a condition you did not check. Do not add a channel you cannot update when the item sells. Poshmark and Mercari are the next places this record can go. Until they are connected, listing there by hand means a third place you must remember to shut off.

Keep the specifics complete now, including material and measurements, so those channels can turn on without a new photo shoot and without a retype. The work you skip today is the work you repeat later.

Where software takes the second typing away

The manual version above is the whole job: one record, two publications, quantity of one, and a same-day end on the listing that did not sell. HAMMOQ drafts that record from the photos and publishes it to eBay and your own website. Staff still confirm the condition and the price. The draft is not a reason to skip the tag photo.

If you want to see one item publish to both live channels from a single record, book a demo and we will walk through it with you.
